Primary seatbelt law on the agenda for 2021

MoDOT has laid out their legislative agenda for 2021 with safety being at the forefront. Area Engineer Bob Lynch tells us that one of the items on that agenda is instituting a Primary Seatbelt law. There has been an effort to get a primary seatbelt law in place for several years…..

The proposed legislation would allow a law enforcement officer to stop a driver solely for not wearing a seatbelt. As of December 31st at 10am, a total of 971 people had died in traffic crashes in Missouri in 2020.
