This past weekend deer hunters across the state sought to harvest the first big buck of the season. Hunters harvested 87548 during the open weekend of firearms deer season, which was down about 12-hundred from last year. Preliminary totals show the top harvest counties in the state were Howell, Texas, and Franklin County. Laclede County hunters check-in 1,086 deer for opening weekend. The November portion of firearms deer season will continue in Missouri until one half-hour after sunset on November 24th.
