During a special meeting of the Lebanon R-3 School Board, the decision was made to implement virtual learning Fridays, beginning November 9th. According to Dr. David Schmitz, in the first 10 weeks of school over a thousand students have missed school for Covid related reasons, and 42 percent of the Lebanon R-3 Staff have had Covid related absences. Not knowing what the upcoming months hold and recognizing the challenges facing everyone in our school community, the Board of Education voted to amend the school calendar and learning mode for Pre-K through 8th grade. As part of the decision, effective November 9th through December 18th, grades pre-k through 8 will have virtual learning days on Friday but will continue in-person learning at school for the rest of the week. Staff will continue working Monday through Friday.

As for meals, Friday meals will be available at the end of the school day each Thursday for PreK through 12, and Friday meal pickups will continue to be available from 11 to 1 at Lebanon High School for hybrid, quarantined, and full-time virtual students. The District is also adding the Middle School as a pickup location. The School Board also voted to change the school Calendar and will close the district offices and classes for the week of November 23rd through the 27th. The next regular school board meeting for Lebanon R-3 School District is set for November 10th.
