Phelps County Fatal

A Phelps County man was killed in a single-vehicle accident at 2:03 Wednesday afternoon. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a car driven by 28-year old James D. Bunton of Duke ran off the left side of Phelps County Road 5240, struck a ditch, went airborne, overturning and striking a fence, ejecting Bunton from the vehicle, he pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his vehicle, 19-year old Alleyiah M. Dunham of Newburg, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Phelps Health in Rolla. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
