The City of Lebanon has issued a peak alert advisory. Utility customers are asked to limit electric usage between the hours of 2 and 8 p.m. Customers are asked to set the air conditioner thermostat at 78 degrees and your dehumidifier no lower than 78%. Do laundry, run the dishwasher, and other appliances early in the morning or late in the evening.
Avoid using the oven during the heat of the day. Close your drapes to block the sun’s heating rays. Unplug unnecessary electric appliances and equipment. Public Works Director Richard Shockley said during peak demand periods additional generators are required, which are more costly to operate, driving up energy costs.

Turn off decorative lighting. Keep exterior doors closed as much as possible and avoid running your swimming pool pump. The lower rate that the city has to pay for energy, the less chance there will be for a future rate increase for residents.
