Parson Signs Transgender Legislation

Governor Mike Parson has signed new legislation. The legislation protects children in Missouri and female sports. The two bills that he signed into law were bills 39 and 49. Bill 39 prohibits biological male students from participating in team events designed for biological females, and this law applies to elementary, secondary, post-secondary, private schools, public school districts, public charter schools, and public and private colleges and universities. Bill 49 establishes the Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act (SAFE) to prohibit health care providers from performing gender transition surgeries or prescribing hormones and drugs to gender transition Missouri children under 18. Parson said:

The act also prohibits MO Health net, Missouri’s medical program, from providing payment for gender transition surgeries, cross-sex hormones, or puberty-blocking drugs.
