After a few months of work, a statewide commission is finishing its recommendations that are meant to boost Missouri’s teacher workforce. Priority recommendations include raising the starting teacher pay and the salary for experienced ones as well as providing more full-ride scholarships to Missouri teacher college students. Another recommendation would increase support for teacher mental health needs. Members are crafting the plan for the Missouri Board of Education to ask state lawmakers to back in next year’s legislative session.
