Overdose death prevention

As the number of Opiate overdose deaths continues to climb, communities are seeking out ways to keep their citizens safe. In Lebanon, COMC has partnered with the Lebanon Police Department and Lane Change to make Narcan available to anyone that might need it. Lane Change Director Lauren Mitchell said the vending machine dispenses free Narcan kits…

The Narcan kit contains two single doses and instructions for use. Anyone is susceptible to an opioid overdose…

During an overdose, a person’s breathing can be dangerously slowed or stopped, causing brain damage or death. According to Mitchell, the Narcan dose is in the form of a nasal spray that wipes the opioid from the brain receptors and can restore normal breathing. The free Narcan vending machine is located inside the entrance of the Lebanon Police Department, at the Hub Community Center in Lake Ozark, and coming soon to the Mid-County Fire District Headquarters in Camdenton, and to the Pulaski County Health Department in Crocker.
