Outdoor vacation spots become popular close to home

Outdoor recreational activities are gaining popularity in light of the pandemic that is keeping many people close to home. Many privately-owned campgrounds and outfitters are booked up every weekend, and some weekdays. Director of Missouri State Parks Mike Sutherland tells Regional Radio News that statewide campgrounds in State Parks are at about 90 percent capacity, which is fueling the outdoor recreation economy…..

As they continue to plan for the future, Missouri State Parks announced in June that people can now reserve their campsites 12 months ahead of time. The one-year camping reservation window will better allow large groups who are traveling together to book in advance.
