One person charged in shooting in Laclede County

A felony charge has been filed against a Springfield man in connection with a shooting in Laclede County on Sunday night, November 3rd. John C. Hilliard is accused of firing multiple rounds at a residence in the 23-thousand block of Penner Lane, injuring a woman who was sitting in her bedroom.  A witness said he was driving home when he saw two people walking in the area and shared the information with a second person, but then drove on to his residence and went inside. The witness reported going back to his vehicle when he heard gunshots, and observed someone firing shots at the other residence. Investigators were able to obtain video of the suspects and the vehicle they fled in.  Authorities believe that Hilliard was the getaway driver for the two suspects, who haven’t been identified or charged as of this date. Hilliard is charged with a class a felony unlawful use of a weapon and is being held with a half million dollar bond.  The woman, who was injured, was treated at an area hospital for a bullet wound.
