The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) confirmed one person was killed in this morning’s crash along the westbound lanes of I-44 near Waynesville, just past exit 159. Another person walked away with minor injuries. Sergeant Mike Mitchell with Highway Patrol Troop I confirmed six tractor-trailers and two pickup trucks were involved in the crash. Sgt. Mitchell said the crash was a domino effect when the first tractor-trailer lost control and traveled into the ditch. The other vehicles crashed while trying to avoid the first tractor-trailers incident. Sgt. Mitchell said one of the tractor-trailers was carrying pudding, adding it spilled all over the interstate. He said the local Health Department was notified. Sgt. Mitchell said it will be late morning or even noon before the westbound lanes of I-44 are reopened. Drivers will have to find an alternate route.
