October is a busy month for special events leading up to Halloween in Pulaski County

October is shaping to be a busy month for special events leading up to Halloween. Four events will lead into the month on Saturday, October 1st. Fall Fest will be taking place in Waynesville City Park with live music, a beer garden, food and craft vendors, a truck and jeep show, and a fireworks display after Dark. Hours for the Fall Fest will be from noon until 11 o’clock at night. Fort Leonard Wood will be having its Oktoberfest Volksmarch on October 1st from 1 to 3 in the afternoon. An Oktoberfest celebration will begin at 3:30 that afternoon with a keg tap, followed by live music, dancing, food, barrel tossing, stein holding competition, and more at Pershing Community Center. The events are open to the public. Non-D-O-D I-D holders will have to get a day pass at the Visitors Center in order to access Fort Wood. The 8th Annual Frog Hill Half Marathon and 10-kilometer will begin at 8 o’clock in the morning on October 1st at East Elementary School and will travel down the hill to Waynesville City Park. Meanwhile, the Nasty Pulaski Gravel Grind Bike Race, a 65-mile or 25-mile leg-quivering bicycle race with stunning views of dramatic landscapes, will push off at 8 o’clock from Waynesville City Park.
