Unemployment in Missouri has seen a significant increase due to business closures caused by stay-at-home orders. According to the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, 196-thousand-290 people have filed unemployment claims in the last month. Governor Mike Parson says this could be an issue for the entire state as there are not enough financial reserves to cover the claims

Parson says there is a record number of unemployment claims, but the state will do everything it can to make sure there is, and we  quote “money in the pocket.”
