Laclede County sales tax collection for the first quarter of 2020 was up slightly from the same time last year and with the COVID-19 virus, the stay at home order and fewer businesses operating and people getting a stimulus check from the government, Presiding Commissioner, Randy Angst says, we may not get a true picture of the sales tax collection for ninety-days to 120 days out:

Angst says, there is always a thirty day lag on sales tax collection and with the COVID-19 virus there will be some parts to this cycle of sales tax that will be hard to say what that collection figure will be. Angst says, as a take away from the COVID-19 pandemic one thing is for certain people will be shopping more online than ever before.
