Non-residents and sales tax revenue

The Lebanon Park Board is making preparations to reach out to the public in advance of a sales tax question on the August ballot. During their meeting on Wednesday, the Park Board began plans to reach out to civic groups and decided that Carrie Plassmeyer will serve as the Committee Treasurer. During the discussion, Parks Director John Shelton, Assistant Director Elliott Wilburn, and Board President RaeAnn Graven Shoemaker talked about the number of people who use Lebanon Parks but aren’t residents of Lebanon, and how that impacts sales tax revenue…

In addition, there are currently 25 teams who are from outside of Lebanon. Its estimated that around 50 percent of sales tax revenue in Lebanon is generated by out-of-town visitors.
