Nominations are open for the Missouri Public Safety Medals award ceremony. This is an annual ceremony that honors those brave folks who did heroic acts and went beyond the call of duty in 2023. The nomination period will be open until Thursday, February 29th. Nominations are not open to the public, and Communication Director with the Missouri Department of Public Safety Mike O’Connell says nominations can only be made by leaders in the Public Safety Agencies.
O’Connell says they are awarding four different medals, and they are for civilians who help out law enforcement, first responders, teams of first responders that protect people from critical situations, and those who have been injured or killed in the line of duty.
The website where Public Safety Agencies can go is DPS.MO.GOV. There will be an update when the ceremony date gets announced.
