Guilty- that’s the verdict in the federal fraud case against state Representative Tricia Derges. A jury has convicted the Republican, from
Nixa, on 22 counts, including wire fraud, illegal distribution of controlled substances, and making false statements to investigators. She sold fake stem cell treatments at medical clinics she operates and fraudulently received about 300 thousand dollars in federal coronavirus aid for her nonprofit clinic serving the poor, homeless, and uninsured. U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore says Derges is a “purported humanitarian who cheated and lied to her patients.”
Derges is out on bond and is expected to be sentenced at a later date.
