New Fourth District Congressman On Speaker Vote

Freshman Congressman Mark Alford of Missouri’s 4th Congressional District, which includes Laclede County, says the past week’s Speaker standoff in the U-S House gained ground for conservatives.

Though he never voted AGAINST Kevin McCarthy to be House Speaker in a message to constituents, Alford only mentioned Jim Jordan of Ohio.

Kevin McCarthy of California made concessions to a faction of the party in order to become Speaker. Those will be played out in the coming months.
