New Attorney For Norton

Timothy Norton has a new lawyer. The 56-year old Norton is one of two men charged with the death of 33-year old Cassidy Rainwater at a home near Windyville.

According to casenet records, Norton attorney Branden Twibell filed a motion to withdraw from the case. While Twibell is still listed as an attorney for Norton, Thomas Kirsch of Jefferson City is also listed as an attorney for the defense.

Investigators say Norton admitted that 58-year old James Phelps asked him to help kill Rainwater while she was staying at Phelps’ home. Investigators say Norton admitted to holding down Rainwater’s legs while Phelps strangled her. Investigators say they dismembered her body in a bathtub. Investigators found the remains in a freezer. In total, more than 200 pieces of evidence were recovered at the home.

Norton is charged with Murder in the First Degree, Kidnapping, and Abandonment of a Corpse.

A motion hearing is set for next Tuesday.

There will be a preliminary hearing Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
