The Missouri Department of Agriculture has announced applications are still available for the Large Animal Veterinary Student Loan Program, for MU students.
The Dr. Merrill Townley Large Animal Veterinary Student Loan Program offers students pursuing degrees in veterinary medicine at the University of Missouri specialized loans and the opportunity to have those loans forgiven after graduation.

The loan program provides up to six students with a $20-thousand-dollar award each year. Following graduation, the program may forgive up to $20,000 of the loan for each year the individual works primarily with large animals in an area of defined need within Missouri, including cattle, horses, and swine. The work could be performed in areas near the state’s livestock markets, areas where the existing veterinary population is diminishing, and areas where local individuals, organizations, and communities have requested large animal services.

Students interested in being part of the program must submit a complete application form, letters of recommendation from faculty and professional references, and an essay outlining how their personal goals align with the mission of the program. Applications are being accepted through September 15th.
