Monday Rains Result in Flooding Along the Big Piney River

Heavier rainfall that moved through Texas County Monday afternoon and evening has prompted the weather service to issue a Flood Warning for the Big Piney River below Fort Leonard Wood and near the East Gate of Fort Leonard Wood. Minor flooding is expected from this morning until early Thursday morning near the East Gate. The water level was 7.07 feet at 7 o’ clock this morning, representing a rise of almost 1 foot from the six o’ clock water level.
Flood stage at the water gauge near the East Gate is 8 feet with the Big Piney expected to crest at
at 11.5 feet after midnight tonight.
At 10.0 feet, flood waters affect the lower TA 250
Training Area and Highway J east of Fort Wood East Gate.
Meanwhile, the Big Piney River near Edgar Springs is over its banks, creating minor flooding with the water level now at 10.89 feet at 7 o’ clock, with the flood stage being 8.5 Feet.
