Modot To Close One Lane of Eastbound I-44 Friday From Rolla To St. James
Well ahead of an expected snowy weather event toward the weekend, the Missouri Department of Transportation has announced it will close one lane of Interstate 44 on Friday because of winter weather. The department says the I-44 eastbound passing lane between Rolla and St. James (between exits 186-195) will be closed.
Only the driving lane will be open to drivers, and the lane will be restricted to 11 feet wide. MODOT says drivers should expect delays. The department will open the passing lane as soon as freezing conditions and the possiblility for slick roads have passed.
Because of the expected weather this week, Amtrack has announced that its trains will not run between St. Louis and Kansas City today and tomorrow.
Evangel College in Springfield has delayed the first day of classes after the holiday break until next week.
