Modot Now Says Eastbound I-44 Rolla to St. James Project Won’t Be Finished Until Late Fall

The expected completion date for the I-44 Improvement Project between Rolla and St. James has been changed again. The latest MODOT listing of weekly road projects in Phelps County now states that the road resurfacing and reconstruction project that was originally scheduled to be completed by December of last year, then pushed off to this April, then to July, is now scheduled for completion in late fall.
Expect a full spring, summer, and fall of having narrow eastbound I-44 lane restrictions between Exit 186 in Rolla to Exit 195 in St. James.
There have been several months of little or no work done on that stretch of I-44, despite periods of unusually sunny, dry, and above normal temperatures this winter.
