A survey of business leaders and supply chain managers in Missouri and eight other Midwestern states finds “rampant” inflation driving up prices. Creighton University economist Ernie Goss in Omaha says consumers are having to pay more for a range of products while hiring levels are not yet back to where they were before COVID-19 hit.

The business leaders surveyed were asked how higher prices due to inflation would be reflected in their company’s performance. Goss says nearly 59-percent expect to pass the prices on to customers and about 38-percent expect the higher prices will reduce profits.
