The Missouri Senate is set to debate how much if any of a proposed tax credit taxpayers may get.

Upon Senate approval, some taxpayers would receive 500-dollars and married couples twice that.

Low-income residents and senior citizens who do not make enough money would not qualify, but wealthier people would benefit from the plan.

Representative Doug Clemens, a St. Louis County Democrat, says any tax credits should go to hard-working Missourians.

Republican Representative J. Eggleston of Maysville – near St. Joseph – says it’s a careless redistribution of money.

That debate should be heard this week in the Missouri Senate.
