Missouri Steer Feedout registration deadline
Today (10/10) is the last day to register steers for this year’s Missouri Steer Feedout. The program sponsored by University of Missouri Extension and Southwest Missouri Cattlemen’s Association has provided critical data points for producers looking to improve the quality of their cattle heading into feedlots. Extension livestock specialist Doctor Patrick Davis…
Participants must commit a minimum of five steers born on or after January 1st. The steers must be castrated, weaned for at least 30 days and have received two rounds of shots. Davis says steers will be collected in November and hauled to the Tri-County Steer Carcass Futurity feedlot in Lewis, Iowa.
MU Extension livestock specialist Patrick Davis says producers in Southwest Missouri will have their steers evaluated at Joplin Regional Stockyard next month, ranchers in other parts of the state may be contacted to arrange a separate transfer, or arrange to bring their livestock to the feedlot. To register or for more information about the Missouri Steer Feedlot, contact Davis at 417-276-3313 or e-mail [email protected].
