Missouri ranks 2nd in vehicle thefts
New research reveals that a staggering 1,001,967 vehicles were stolen in the US in 2022, with Missouri ranking joint second among the states with the highest rate of vehicle thefts overall. According to recent data Missouri is the state that has the joint second-highest rate of vehicle thefts with 15 out of every 1,000 registered vehicles stolen. Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap said a large majority of those vehicle thefts were in larger cities….
Millsap said because of advances in anti-theft technology it’s very difficult to take a vehicle that doesn’t have the keys in it. According to Statista, in 2022, for every 1,000 cars registered in Missouri, 15 were stolen. Sheriff Millsap reminds everyone that whether its a family car or a farm truck always take the keys out of your vehicle.
