Missouri is on track to become the latest state to restrict transgender health care and transgender athletes. The Missouri Legislature has sent to the governor two bills that would limit transgender healthcare for those under 18 and restrict transgender athletes from competing in K-12 and college sports. Shira Berkowitz, with PROMO, an LGBTQ advocacy group, says Missouri’s state government is “waging an all-out war on transgender Missourians.”
Senator Mike Moon, a Republican from southwest Missouri’s Ash Grove, says his bill prohibits the “chemical mutilation and physical castration of minors.” Governor Mike Parson is expected to sign the bills.
