Missouri House Passes Minimum Teacher Pay Bill

Missouri has the lowest average minimum teacher salary in the country. The state House of Representatives has passed a bill that would increase the minimum teacher salary to 38-thousand-dollars annually. The plan would also boost the minimum pay to 46-thousand-dollars for teachers with a master’s degree and 10 years of experience. Moberly State Representative Ed Lewis says his bill would create a grant fund through 2027 to provide 70-percent of the funding needed to help increase the salaries.

It’s the Senate’s turn to decide if it supports the package.
