Missouri House leaders are proposing that nearly 730 million dollars be spent on making improvements to I-44

Missouri House leaders are proposing that nearly 730 million dollars be spent on making improvements to I-44, the longest interstate highway in the Show-Me State. They would include expanding the highway to 6 lanes in and around Springfield, Rolla, and Joplin.

Republican State Representative Don Mayhew says upgrades to I-44 are especially needed to improve truck traffic:

The financial package to improve I-44 is included in the Missouri House’s proposed budget for next year. It still needs to be passed by the full House and eventually the Senate before it can be signed into law.
