The Missouri Highway Patrol is expecting heavy volumes of motorists on our highways as we go into the long Independence Day holiday period. Troop I Information and Education Officer Sergeant Mike Mitchell observes that more people are planning to get out and on the road this year in comparison to last year.

The patrol will be participating in their Crash Awareness Reduction Effort during the long holiday weekend, with every available trooper out on the roadway enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists. Motorists or boaters in need of assistance, or who want to report a crime, should use the Highway Patrol’s Emergency Assistance number, one-800-525-5555 or Star-55 on a cell phone.
