The Biden administration’s updated Waters of the United States rule continues to come under fire. During a U.S. House subcommittee hearing, Missouri Farm Bureau President Garrett Hawkins said the rule expands government overreach on private property. The regulation expands federal authority of waterways, including some lakes, ponds, and streams.

The Environmental Protection Agency defends the new rule, saying that it will move the country closer to “protecting public health” and achieving the goals of the Clean Water Act passed more than 50 years ago.
