Missouri 4th District U-S Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler has sent a letter requesting information regarding possible wrongful forms of detainment
Missouri 4th District U-S Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler has sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Michael Carvajal requesting information regarding possible wrongful forms of detainment, including solitary confinement, of individuals who breached the United States Capitol Building on January 6th. In the letter, Hartzler wrote: “Given the harmful physiological and psychological effects of restrictive housing, also known as solitary confinement, recent reports on the use of solitary confinement for dozens of the pretrial defendants is alarming. The charges against these individuals do not warrant the use of solitary confinement, a treatment reserved for the most violent of criminals, and suggests that this elevated treatment is politically motivated and warrants answers.” This ongoing development has been documented at length in Politico and the Washington Examiner.
