It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Millard (Mickey) Dillion McGuire Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully on October 21, 2024, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 4, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, Mickey was the cherished only child of Millard and Georgie McGuire. His family later moved to Buffalo, where he spent the rest of his life, creating a legacy of love, faith, and dedication. After graduating from Buffalo High School, Mickey began his career at Chapman’s, where he took immense pride in his work. He dedicated over 60 years from driving trucks to running the floor covering department.
On August 9, 1964, Mickey married his high school sweetheart love of his life, Linda Chapman. Their union flourished over 60 years, a testament to their unwavering love and commitment to one another. Together, they built a beautiful family, and Mickey’s love for them was boundless. He was not only a supportive husband but also an incredible father who passionately coached his children in youth sports, always cheering them on from the sidelines. His presence at their games and events was a constant source of encouragement that instilled confidence and joy in all of them.
Mickey was a man of faith, a member of First Baptist Church in Buffalo, where he found community and strength. His love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived his life—through kindness, generosity, and a spirit of service.
In addition to his family and faith, Mickey cherished the outdoors. He loved to hunt and play golf, often creating unforgettable memories on trips with friends. His laughter and zest for life were infectious, bringing warmth to those around him.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, but he leaves behind a legacy that will live on through his beloved wife, Linda, his children Mickey Joe, Lora (James) Ashworth, Marty, Mark, and Lacey (Hope), and his cherished grandchildren Dakota McGuire, Cody McGuire, Dallas McGuire, Spencer Ashworth, Cole McGuire, and Macey Vigneault. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Kane McGuire, Brexlea McGuire, Mason Vigneault, Iva McGuire, Beau McGuire, Ridley McGuire, Miles Vigneault, Maddux Vigneault, and Ozzie McGuire.
