At around 5:00 pm Monday, Mid-County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to Post Office Road off of State Road D, just outside of Camdenton near Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Crews were informed a tree had been struck by lightning and then fell onto a vehicle with people inside. First arriving firefighters found a large tree on top of the truck, parked next to a creek. Several downed wires around the truck and running through the creek were later found to be phone and cable wires. There were two people outside the truck, and two others were stuck inside. Firefighters used chainsaws to remove the tree from the truck and gain access to the two people inside. Everyone involved declined to be taken to the hospital.
