Memorial Day observance canceled at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville
(Waynesville)–The annual public Memorial Day observance at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville will not be taking place this year due to Covid-19 concerns. The announcement came Wednesday from the Missouri Veterans Commission, which said it had canceled public ceremonies at all five state veterans cemeteries on Memorial Day. However, at each veteran’s cemetery, including the one in Waynesville, Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Directors will render appropriate honors and lower all flags to half-staff to honor all Veterans and their spouses who are interred there.
To further honor veterans, the Missouri Veterans Commission will provide a video honoring veterans on its social media platforms in lieu of the traditional in-person ceremony.
