SHELTON CONTINUED “Shannon Kampeter didn’t have his best stuff tonight, but he gutted through 5 innings for us and did his best to give us innings that we desperately needed. He picks up his 4th win on the mound already this season. I was also happy with our defense tonight. We played an error free game and this area has been improving each game this year.

THE WIN MOVES DIXON TO 6-3 THIS FALL AND THEY WILL TRAVEL TO LINN THURSDAY FOR A REMATCH WITH THE WILDCATS. LINN WON 7-4 LAST TIME OUT, COMING BACK LATE TO WIN IT, SO WE ARE HUNGRY TO SEE HOW MUCH WE HAVE IMPROVED SINCE OUR FIRST MEETING. GAME TIME IS 5:00 THURSDAY.

EUGENE 6-1 OVER LICKING

THE LICKING AT NEWBURG GAME ON THE SCHEDULE DID NOT HAPPEN..INSTEAD, LICKING HOSTED EUGENE…
THE Wildcats’ five game winning streak ended with a 6-1 loss to the Eagles.

Eugene took the early lead with a lone run in the first. Licking missed an opportunity to answer with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the frame when back-to-back strikeouts killed the rally.

Eugene built a 3-0 lead after two innings and the Wildcats played from behind all game long. Tyler Renn picked up the Eagle win going five innings while scattering four hits and fanning 11.
Cole Wallace took the loss for Licking. He was charged with four runs, two earned, on eight hits.

Malachi Antle and Easton Ice both turned in 2-for- 3 nights for Licking. Keyton Rinne added a double for the Wildcats as their offense sputtered most of the evening.

Licking saw its record slip to 6-2 with the setback. The Wildcats return to the diamond at Deer Lick on Thursday when they host Iberia.

A FIRST IN THE NBA…BESIDES ALL GAMES BEING PLAYED IN A BUBBLE IN ORLANDO, NO TEAM HAS BEEN DOWN 3 GAMES TO ONE IN CONSECUTIVE PLAYOFF SERIES AND COME BACK TO WIN BOTH IN THE 74 YEAR HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE……DENVER DID IT YESTERDAY WITH A 104-89 VICTORY OVER THE L.A. CLIPPERS AND REVERSED A DOUBLE DIGIT DEFICIT
Five times in these playoffs the Denver Nuggets have trailed by double digits in an elimination game. All five games they came back to win. Viewed through the “one game at a time” prism, none of these comebacks were necessarily hard to believe. Denver is talent rich and overflowing with confidence. But in totality, you would expect the law of averages to eventually win out.
You can’t go down 3-1 in consecutive series and come back to win them both, can you?
That’s literally never happened in the 74-year history of the NBA.
Until now.
On Tuesday night, the Nuggets reversed yet another double-digit deficit en route to flat out blasting the Los Angeles Clippers to the tune of a 104-89 Game 7 victory.
DENVER MOVES ONTO MEET THE LAKERS IN THE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS.
*
The Miami Heat outlasted the Boston Celtics in Tuesday’s Game 1 OF THE EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS, 117-114 in overtime, and there were plays being made all over the court in the waning moments.
