ROLLA 74-71 OVER WAYNESVILLE IN OT

TURNOVERS AT CRUCIAL TIMES THAT ROLLA TURNED INTO POINTS WAS THE TIGER DOWNFALL LAST NIGHT IN A 74-71 LOSS TO THE BULLDOGS IN OVERTIME….
ROLLA ERASED A 13 POINT DEFICIT WITH ABOUT 3 MINUTES LEFT IN REGULATION TO TIE IT, THEN BESTED THE TIGERS 10-7 IN THE NEXT 4 MINUTES FOR THE OZARK CONFERENCE “W”…..
THE FINAL 8 MINUTES OF REGULATION SAW 58 POINTS GO THROUGH THE CYLINDER WITH THE BULLDOGS GETTING THE BEST OF THE TIGERS, 32-26 INCLUING A 20-7 RUN IN THAT 3 MINUTE SPAN THANKS TO SEVERAL TIGER TURNOVERS AND A BARRAGE OF 3’S FROM THE VISITORS…
THEN IN OVERTIME, THE TIGERS, PLAYING WITH FOUL PROBLEMS ON MIKE LEWIS, JARED HYATT, AND KEYSHAWN SMITH, THE DEFENSE SUFFERED AND ROLLA CAPITALIZED..
THE TIGERS HAD A NICE BALANCE IN SCORING WITH 5 IN DOUBLES..
XAY MacAUTHUR LED WITH 16, RIGHT BEHIND WAS MIKE LEWIS WITH 15, GABE RUSH DRAINED 13, JARED HYATT ADDED 12, AND NOEL OKEKE HAD 10…DANNY FOSTER LED ROLLA WITH 27, TREY BROWN HIT FOR 16, AND GAGE KLOSSNER NETTED 10, MOSTLY FROM THE STRIPE….

WAYNESVILLE GOES TO 9-9 OVERALL, (2-2) CONFERENCE
ROLLA (10-7) OVERALL, (3-1) CONFERENCE

COACH CHRIS PILZ OFTHE WAYNESVILLE TIGERS SAID:
“Hard fought game. Rolla made a couple more winning plays and were able to beat us tonight. I thought our guys played really well. We would like to have a couple plays back in the last 3 minutes of regulation. Unfortunately, we could not control the ball well enough down the stretch. I liked our effort and attitude tonight. Our bench played well tonight. Gabe Rush gave us a big lift off the bench with 13 points. Noel Okeke started tonight in the absence of AJ Martin and played outstanding. Some nights you play well and get beat. It was one of those nights. We improved tonight. We had a chance to review our game film yesterday and I saw improvement from the film sessions. We will tip our hat to Rolla tonight and get ready for Parkview on Thursday night.”

THE RELEASE CAME OUT, AND IT WAS ANNOUCED BEFORE IT WAS OFFICIAL………
The St. Louis Cardinals announced TUES. that they have agreed to terms with premier franchise catcher Yadier Molina on a one-year contract for the 2021 season. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Molina, 38, a nine-time Rawlings Gold Glove award winner, AND nine-time National League All-Star, has played every game of his career (2004-20) in a Cardinals uniform, totaling 2,025 games over 17 Major League seasons. His 2,025 career games are the most of any catcher for just one team.

Molina will pass Bob Gibson (17) and move into 2nd this year with 18 seasons played solely for the Cardinals, trailing only Stan Musial’s record 22 seasons. He and Adam Wainwright have paired up in 274 games, ranking 6th all-time in Major League history in games started as battery mates.

“We are pleased to announce that Yadier has agreed to continue his legacy career as a member of the Cardinals, and remain the centerpiece of our team,” said Cardinals’ President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak. “His experience, leadership, work ethic and ability to help bring out the best in those around him are special qualities. We know that there is no one who is more driven than Yadi to get the Cardinals another shot at the title.”

Major League Baseball players are set to begin reporting to Arizona and Florida for spring training next week. The league laid out COVID-19 health and safety protocols this week, and spring training games will begin before the end of the month.

While MLB outwardly appears content to treat spring training like… well, spring training, there will be some notable differences between this exhibition season and those of the past. Below, we’ve laid out three such ways.

1. Less players and more space
Teams can invite up to 75 players to camp….MLB will delay the start of the season for most minor-league affiliates. Players at the Double-A and Class-A levels won’t report for camp until after their big-league and Triple-A peers depart.

2. Hubs and altered schedules
As with last year’s regular season, MLB is restructuring the spring training schedule to prioritize geography.

3. There will be some fans, but on a limited basis…
