COACH PILZ ON THE WHS TIGERS –
”Tonight was a really good high school game.”
The story tonight was two good teams met and Blair Oaks came out on top. Coach Fick does an outstanding job with his team and they were the better team tonight.”
I liked how our guys competed. If we continue to practice and play that tough we will become a solid team. We were engaged and connected tonight.”
”We were in another competitive game. We needed to make 1 more defensive or offensive play to pull out a win.
”Tomorrow night we get an opportunity to play a very good Sullivan team. I did not agree with how the game ended. We will move on and start fresh tomorrow. We will have another challenge tomorrow that will be great preparation for our district tournament.”

ROLLA BEAT LICKING 71-44 FOR 7TH PLACE…
SALEM TOPPED FATIMA 69-67 FOR 5TH.
WAYNESVILLE WHIPPED SULLIVAN 51-36 FOR 3RD…

WAYNESVILLE TIGERS JUMPED OUT TO 12-6 FIRST QUARTER LEAD, OUT SCORED SULLIVAN 15-7 IN THE SECOND TO LEAD BY 14 AT THE HALF, WON THIRD QUARTER, 10-7. WAYNESVILLE OUT SCORED SULLIVAN 17-13 IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. THEY WERE NOT GOING TO BE DENIED……
TIGER COACH CHRIS PILZ SAID:
”Our guys bounced back from a tough loss Friday night and performed at a high level against Sullivan.
”Butler-Lawson, Morris, Hill, O’Neil, Smith played well the last couple nights. If we can get consistent performances from our seniors, I think we will become a hard team to beat.”
COACH PILZ CONTINUED:
”Our guys competed and played together this week. Our guys are starting to understand our defensive concepts. Which is an important part of a championship team.”

WAYENSVILLE WILL HOST ST. LOUIS CHRISTIAN TOMORROW NIGHT AND THOSE WHO ENJOY ABOVE THE RIM HOOPS, ST. LOUIS CHRISTIAN WILL NOT DISAPPOINT….THEY WERE THERE FOR THE ROUTE 66 SHOOTOUT, AND BRING IN SOME HEIGHT….

FRIDAY NIGHT IN IBERIA WAS A QUIET ONE, AND SATURDAY TURNED OUT THE SAME WAY..

THE IBERIA ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT WAS CANCELLED AND MOVED TO A ONE NIGHT SHOOT-OUT ON FRIDAY WITH A CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR SATURDAY…..THIS WAS ALL DONE BEFORE NOON, BUT WHEN THE SNOW STARTED AGAIN, SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS PUT THE HAMMER ON BUS TRAVEL, AND SOME TEAMS COULD NOT MAKE THE SATURDAY SWITCH, SO THIS YEARS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT AT IBERIA WAS DONE….
THEY’LL TRY AGAIN NEXT YEAR……

TOP SEEDED RICHLAND MOVED TO THE RIGHT ON THE BRACKET WITH AN 84-66 WIN OVER THE HOST BELLE TIGERS….IN THE 4TH VS 5TH SEED, CHAMOIS SENT SOUTH CALLOWAY TO THE LEFT CONSOLATION SIDE WITH A 52-36 VICTORY…CHAMOIS WILL FACE RICHLAND ON WEDNESDAY AT 5:30 IN A WINNER BRACKET SEMI.

NEWBURG’S NEXT OPPONENT IS MISSOURI MILITARY ACADEMY……WE’RE AGAIN, WAITING FOR AN UPDATE BRACKET FOR ABOUT THE 3RD OR 4TH TIME….LAST WEEK WAS TOUGH ON TOURNAMENT ORGANIZERS…..
