The Maries County Sheriff’s Department has released information about a drug arrest on their Facebook page. On Monday afternoon, Corporal Erican Sugg observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on 8th Street in Vienna and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the traffic stop consent to search, the vehicle was requested by Corporal Sugg and the driver denied consent. The K-9 unit was requested and Lt Mark Morgan deployed K-9 Kimon for a free air sniff of the vehicle. LT Morgan stated K-9 Kimon alerted to the presence of narcotics and a probable cause search was then initiated. The search resulted in the location of a glass pipe with white & burnt residue on it and a small baggie containing a crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine. A field test of the crystal substance was positive for methamphetamine and the driver, Laurie Pierce, of Vienna was arrested. Pierce is being held in the Maries County Jail pending a warrant application.
