Marcelline Maddux
In loving memory of Marcelline Maddux daughter of Ernest and Freda Dora (Austin) Mashburn was born March 10, 1938 in Louisburg, Missouri where she grew up. Marcelline attended High School in Halfway, Missouri, graduating with the class of 1956.
On December 9, 1956 Marcelline married the love of her life, Ivan Anthony Maddux in Louisburg, Missouri, and to this union two children were born, Janeene and Steve. Over sixty-seven years of marriage, Ivan and Marcelline’s love, and laughter created many treasured memories.
As a young woman, Marcelline accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and was baptized. She loved the Lord and served Him gladly. She and Ivan enjoyed visiting area churches with her family.
Marcelline was a beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of our family. She was a dedicated farmer’s wife, who selflessly cared for her family and also served as a compassionate caretaker for disabled children.
Marcelline and Ivan enjoyed traveling over many states and several countries over the years. They both enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Marcelline also enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, you never walked away hungry after one of Marcelline’s wonderful meals.
Marcelline touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and her unwavering love. Her warm smile and nurturing spirit brought comfort and joy to those who knew her. She will be remembered for her strength and resilience and her commitment to the ones she loved. Marcelline leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever inspire us all.
On the evening of Wednesday, June 5, 2024, having attained the age of 86 years, Marcelline went home to God.
Marcelline leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Janeene Schelich (Paul) of Columbia, MO, one son, Steve Maddux (Shelly) of Richland, MO; 5 grandchildren, John Maddux (Whitney) of Ste. Genevieve, MO, Josh Maddux (Miranda) of Richland, MO, Jessy Beushausen (Logan) of Springfield, MO, Max Schelich of Columbia, MO, and Gabriel Schelich of Columbia, MO; 5 great grandchildren, Jackson, Quinton, Lynnea, Huxley, and Kyler; one brother, Virval Mashburn of Richland, MO; two sisters-in-law, Linda Mashburn of Bolivar, MO and Patty Smith of Huntsville, AL; three brothers-in-law, Louis Maddux (Jean) of Lebanon, MO, Ralph Cansler of TN, and Elvin Maddux (Janice) of Springfield, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Freda Mashburn, her cherished husband, Ivan Maddux (1/15/2024), one brother: Lendol Mashburn; sisters-in-laws: Georgia Maddux, Mary Atteberry (Joe), Vera Cansler, and Kathryn Pennell (Audrey); brothers-in-law, Herb Maddux, and Paul Smith.
Though our hearts are heavy and our world a little bit dimmer without Marcelline’s warm and loving smile, we know she is with her beloved Ivan and safely in the arms of God. Their memory will live in our hearts forever.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2024 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor David Douglas and Pastor Terry Maddux officiating. The songs, “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven With You” and “Sheltered In the Arms of God” were performed by soloist/pianist, Joy Francis. Pallbearers included Steve Maddux, John Maddux, Josh Maddux, Max Schelich, Gabriel Schelich, Logan Beushausen, Lewane Mashburn, Kyler Maddux, Jackson Maddux, and Quinton Maddux. Burial followed in the Wair-Dowty Chapple Cemetery near Richland, MO.
Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.
