Man wrecks stolen car and then steals patrol car while in handcuffs
A suspect is in custody in connection with an incident that left a string of damage in Miller and Camden County on Saturday. Officers with Lake Ozark Police responded to a report of shoplifting at Kohl’s, on Saturday afternoon. The witness said the suspect, who was later identified as Kenneth Rybolt, was following them. They pulled into a parking lot, and officers arrived blocking the suspect’s car. Rybolt reportedly rammed into one of the police cars, and got away. They began pursuing the car, and the suspect hit another vehicle, and left the scene, drove past the post office, and drove off the road, down an incline nearly going off a cliff on MM Highway. Rybolt jumped out of the car, and allegedly attempted to carjack a vehicle, at the traffic light, but was apprehended by police.
He was placed in handcuffs and put in a patrol vehicle, but he broke the cage partition, and climbed into the driver’s seat, and stole the patrol car. He then crashed the patrol car in Porto Cima, got out, and attempted to steal another vehicle. He then broke into a house and stole a key to a personal watercraft, was attempting to steal it when the water patrol pulled up. The car that the Rybolt was originally driving had been reported stolen in Columbia and was full of stolen property. Rybolt is facing multiple charges in Miller and Camden County, including assault, tampering with a motor vehicle, escape from custody, burglary, stealing, and property damage.
