Man charged for trying to run down a police officer

An investigation that began with a call about a domestic disturbance on Wednesday morning, on Gray Fox Run in Camden County, has led to multiple charges against a Camdenton man. The victim reported that the suspect, David Conboy had left her residence, and while en route, an officer spotted the car in the area of North 5 and Wading Bird Road. The suspect vehicle took off and officers gave chase. One of the officers involved in the incident, parked his patrol car, and was standing behind the car, when Conboy approached at a high rate of speed and allegedly swerved toward him, missing him by about a foot. The pursuit continued and in the area of Fisherman’s Cove Road, Conboy pulled over and jumped out and attempted to run. He was taken into custody, after falling off a retaining wall. Conboy was taken to the hospital, and officers searched his car, locating a meth pipe that held powder residue. Conboy is charged with assault, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. An unrelated incident on April 20th resulted in Conboy being charged with domestic assault, and he is also charged with property damage from an incident on January 24. Conboy remains in the Camden County Jail without bond.
