Maine Man Sentenced For Hitting Trooper

An Orchard Beach, Maine, man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting that he intentionally hit a Missouri state trooper with his vehicle after a traffic stop in Lebanon in February of 2021.
29-year-old Galen Sailer was sentenced Monday by 26th Circuit Judge Kenneth Hayden.

Trooper Cory Stauffer conducted a traffic stop involving Sailer at an exit in Lebanon around 7:30 a.m. On Wednesday, February 10th. Stauffer told investigators Sailer became agitated. Stauffer says Sailer told him an officer in Arizona had killed his brother. Stauffer then said Sailer rolled up his window and began to circle the parking lot of a restaurant. Stauffer said Sailer then struck him, dragging him, then pinning him against a steel pillar. The trooper suffered a broken bone. Before his sentencing, Sailer pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and property damage.
