The Lebanon Downtown Business District Board has hired the first-ever Main Street Downtown Business District executive director for downtown Lebanon. Lebanon native Ashton Light accepted the position early last week. Light has degrees in agribusiness finance management and animal science from Missouri State University and she is currently completing an accelerated master’s degree in agriculture economics. The Lebanon Downtown District Board began the process of searching for a Main Street director in late 2019. “To effectively revitalize our historic downtown, there was a real need for time, effort, and resources that could not be accomplished in the limited time our board meets each month,” said Steve Hite, Downtown Business District Board president. The board developed a job description, and after a nationwide search, they decided Light was the right person for the job. “Ashton has deep roots in our community and has always had an interest in our downtown,” Hite said. “She brings vitality, enthusiasm, and organization that will enable us to create a long-range plan and vision for the heart of our community. Our board is excited the have Ashton as Lebanon’s first-ever executive director of our downtown district. “ Light is looking forward to serving the downtown business district. She said she believes she can bring energy and new ideas while still helping to preserve the historical value of downtown.
