A team of researchers at the University of Missouri have identified the specific mutations in the monkeypox virus that have led to the virus growing stronger and smarter, even evading antiviral drugs and vaccines. Singh’s research could lead to modified versions of existing drugs used to treat those suffering from monkeypox, or the development of new drugs to account for the current mutations. Scientists are still researching how often the virus can spread when someone has no symptoms.
