Longtime Lebanon R-3 Superintendent Passes

Longtime Superintendent of the Lebanon R-3 Schools, Vic Slaughter, 88, passed away today in Olathe, Kansas. He served as superintendent from 1974 until 1989. He then served as Director of Finance of the Missouri Department of Education. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church where he taught Sunday school and the Lebanon Rotary Club. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. Dr. Slaughter is survived by his wife, Sybl Slaughter; his two sons, George Slaughter, and his wife, Vicki, of Olathe, Kansas, and Blake Slaughter, and his wife, Kristen, of Ballwin, Missouri; his daughter, Jennifer Dehaan, and her husband, Keith, of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, Allen “Bitsy” Slaughter, of Fulton, Missouri; his brother-in-law, Dan Neely, of Cape, Girardeau, Missouri, as well as his five grandchildren. Arrangements will be announced by Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
