After several attempts at securing a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant to construct a FEMA-approved storm shelter in the Lebanon R-3 School District, the district will finally get that opportunity. R-3 Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Brad Armstrong, delivered the good news………..

The FEMA-approved storm shelter will be constructed at Boswell Elementary, but the required paperwork makes it a lengthy process. Steve Telscher, with Sapp Design Associates, briefed the board on the required paperwork that will need to be submitted before construction can begin. The approval to completion process typically takes a little over two years. The district is hoping to have the structure completed by the end of 2022. The district plans to obtain a loan to cover the cost of the project.
