Lebanon man faces assault and drug possession charge

A Lebanon man is charged with assault and domestic assault following incidents that happened on May 16th and May 21st. Just before midnight, on the 16th, Lebanon police responded to a call in the area of North Jefferson and Bennett, where witnesses say they saw a man shoving a woman to the ground hitting her with his fists and then kicking her. The victim, who was in pain and had cuts on her, told officers that she didn’t want to get the suspect, 32-year old David Metty into trouble. Metty has since been charged with domestic assault. When officers encountered Metty on the 21st, and were in the process of taking him into custody, he began making threatening remarks, tried to kick officers, and punched one of the officers in the face. After he was taken into custody, officers found a pen tube that had residue that tested positive as methamphetamine. He was charged with assault on a special victim, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance, in connection with those actions. Metty is currently being held in the Laclede County Jail without bond.
