The sidewalk master plan was a topic of discussion during the Lebanon City Council meeting on Thursday. Street Department Supervisor Mike Moore told the council they are working on a master plan and have established a procedure for doing so. One of the main concerns seems to be making sure that the existing 32 miles of sidewalk is A.D.A compliant. Moore said they started inspections and so far have got about 3 and a half miles inspected….

The fastest and least costly A.D.A. projects seems to be sidewalk ramps,

He said a good sidewalk ramp would help get people off the street and onto the sidewalk faster.

As for new sidewalk construction, City staff reported that they believe New Buffalo Road, and connecting the existing sidewalk system should be a priority. The challenge for the city will be balancing funds to pay for street maintenance and sidewalks.
